There is no evidence to support Donald Trump's allegations of voter fraud in Pennsylvania. State officials say the voting process was safe and secure.
The context
Leading up to the U.S. presidential election on November 5, Republican candidate Donald Trump spread multiple claims of voter fraud in the state of Pennsylvania. Trump continued the narrative on election day with a post on his Truth Social account, writing, "A lot of talk about massive CHEATING in Philadelphia. Law Enforcement coming!!!"
However, Pennsylvania state officials refute Donald Trump's claim of massive voter fraud in the critical state.
What we found
In response to the now-president-elect's`3 allegations, the City Commissioner of Philadelphia posted on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "There is absolutely no truth to this allegation. It is yet another example of disinformation. Voting in Philadelphia has been safe and secure."
Pennsylvania District Attorney Larry Krasner refuted Trump's claim on X, saying, "The only talk about massive cheating has come from one of the candidates, Donald J. Trump. There is no factual basis whatsoever within law enforcement to support this wild allegation."
Trump offered no evidence to support his claim and gave no indication as to the alleged source of the information.
Pennsylvania, a key swing state, has been the subject of many voter fraud claims related to the election. In late October, Trump accused multiple counties in Pennsylvania of voter fraud. "Pennsylvania is cheating, and getting caught, at large scale levels rarely seen before," Trump posted on October 30.
One of the first subjects of the accusations was Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Just 11 days before the election, the Lancaster County Board of Elections announced that its staff had identified incidents of voter registration fraud, claiming 2,500 registration forms were under investigation. These forms are still under investigation; however, there have been no reports of fraudulent ballots in the county. "Our Lancaster County Elections system is secure. Our systems worked," the county Board of Elections wrote in a press release.
