Instead, he said, “I must tell ya, senator, your party has spent the last three and a half years trying to overturn the results of the last election.” Late last month, US President Donald Trump explicitly refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power. At the first Presidential debate, Trump again declined to commit to accepting the outcome of the election should he end up losing. Instead, he undermined public trust in the voting process by declaring that because of mail-in balloting, the 2020 election is “going to be a fraud like you’ve never seen.”
