Trump suggested that people in the state of N. Carolina should vote twice in the election, once in person and once by mail. Voting twice is a crime. To test the mail-in-system, U.S. President Donald Trump urged people to vote twice, once by mail, and once in person during the upcoming 2020 U.S. Presidential election in North Carolina. Even though it is illegal in the U.S. to cast a vote twice, Trump advised people who are voting by mail, to double-check their vote and whether their vote is tabulated or not. If not, then they should visit the pooling station and vote in person. Trump also said that if the mail-in ballot system is as good as they claim, then voters will not be able to mail twice. Trump has repeatedly said the voting method is susceptible to large-scale fraud. However, we checked this claim and found that voter fraud of any kind is extremely rare in the United States. Voting by mail is not new in the U.S. – nearly one in four voters cast presidential ballots in 2016 that way. A record number of mail-in ballots are expected for this election due to concerns about in-person voting during the coronavirus pandemic.
