The share of global electricity from solar and wind power has increased from 4.7 percent to 14 percent in the past five years. In 2015, the solar and wind power share for global electricity was 4.7% altogether, as per the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory. A report by independent climate think-tank Ember states that it analyzed 48 countries whose electricity generation makes up 83% of the global electricity. It has more than doubled from 2015 to the first half of 2020. The electricity generation rose from 992 terawatt-hours in 2019 to 1,129 terawatt-hours in the first half of 2020 (Refer Page No. 14-15, 46-47). The latest figures provided by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory are limited to 2018, but a comparison from 2015 suggests a continuous increase in worldwide production of solar and wind energy (Refer Page No. 51) Similarly, extensive data published by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in July 2020 shows an increase in solar and wind energy production from most countries (Refer to Page No. 26 and 40).
