Mumbai Fire Department confined a fire at Crawford Market by sending in 6 fire engines. A fire broke out at Crawford Market in Mumbai on the evening of 11 June 2020. As the fire control room received the call, the department personnel rushed to the spot and took almost three hours to bring the fire under control. The fire spread to twelve stalls and damaged boxes, electrical items, and packaging material inside the shops. The incident was declared as level-2 by the fire department. Six fire fighting jets were called in to conduct the cooling operation and no injuries or death were reported. Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai, also known as Crawford Market, is located just opposite the Mumbai Police headquarters near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station. It is a wholesale market for fruits, vegetables, poultry, and exotic pets. It is over 150-year-old and was designed by British architect William Emerson.
