Kerala is one of the states which has been affected badly by the virus. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan issued a directive imposing a full lockdown in the state from May 8 to May 16, 2021, considering the steep rise in daily COVID-19 cases. At present, a partial lockdown type is imposed with some curbs in place. The decision came in a day after the southern state reported a total of 41,593 COVID-19 cases on May 5. The active cases rose to 3.75 lakh with a test positivity rate of 25.69%, and the cumulative death toll reached 5,565.
