In truth, she is a Kenyan national who lives in the United Kingdom. She clarifies this in a video published by the BBC. She said that the photo used in the post was taken when she was volunteering at the London 2012 Olympic games at the Trafalgar Square. Elise Kibue also said that people should stop circulating false messages as it affects personal life. She cautions that this could easily happen to anyone else as well.
