Six patients, who had initially tested positive, were tested negative for Covid-19 after the Thane Municipal Commission reanalyzed their samples.False-positive cases emerge when a person with no symptoms is tested positive for any particular disease. A private lab in Thane had given false positive reports in six cases on the Covid-19 test. Later, it was found by the Thane civic body that the six reports were erroneous and served notice to the private lab. The incident had caused the patients to go through social and psychiatric trauma. Some patients complained about the testing lab after they had to spend money to get tested again. In the wake of this incident, the TMC commissioner has ordered not to conduct Covid-19 tests in the Thane Corporation limits. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
