Ministry of Finance tweeted that this news is false and clarified that there will be no cut in pension disbursements. On 9 April 2020, the Press Information Bureau took the matter into consideration and stated that the information circulating that the government intends to reduce the pensions of government employees by 30 per cent and terminate it altogether for that above the age of 80, in the wake of coronavirus pandemic is fake and baseless. Further, it clarified that there is no such information declared by the government. An article by All India Radio also stated that the government had dismissed the media reports and rumours that it intends to reduce pensions of its employees by 30 per cent.
