Photo of Kamala Harris hugging Jeffrey Epstein is AI-generated

Context

An image (archived here) purportedly showing Vice President Kamala Harris embracing Jeffrey Epstein has been widely circulating on social media. 

The image is accompanied by a caption, "If you vote Kamala, you are pro-Epstein! Kamala pictured with Epstein on his Island!" 

However, this image is not genuine. It was generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and is one of many similar fabrications circulating online.

Closer look

Through reverse image search, we traced the image's origin to OpenArt. This platform describes itself as one offering "free AI image, video, and text generators with over 100 models and styles, enabling users to create and edit images using various AI tools." 

The model used is OpenArt SDXL — a text-to-image generation model that allows users to create images based on given prompts at resolutions of up to 512 x 512 pixels. The prompt to generate the image states, "jeffrey epstein embracing kamala harris on a beach."

This "photo" is among many generated on this website depicting Kamala Harris. There are also images of her dancing with Elon Musk and even drinking beers with Karl Marx.

The circulation of AI-generated images depicting Harris with Epstein is not new. We have previously debunked manipulated images falsely suggesting the two were together on a beach, an altered photo with Epstein's face replacing that of Harris' husband, and a similar altered image purported to show Jeffrey Epstein with Joe Biden.

The verdict

The image claiming to show Kamala Harris with Jeffrey Epstein is entirely fabricated using AI technology and lacks any factual basis.  

Therefore, we have marked the claim as fake.
