The absence of travelers from the UK due to a travel advisory in Spain could result in hotels closing in Majorca for the summer.

The absence of travelers from the UK due to a travel advisory in Spain could result in hotels closing in Majorca for the summer. A Guardian article claims that the UK has mandated a two week quarantine period for all travelers returning from Spain's holiday islands. The article adds that British workers who booked tickets to visit islands such as Majorca will have to choose between canceling their trips or taking unpaid leave to comply with quarantine rules. According to a Forbes article, the UK government removed Spain from its quarantine-free travel lists on July 26, causing havoc among many travelers. Additionally, the Mirror article states that according to the president of the Mallorca hotel federation, Maria Frontera, unless the travel advisory is lifted, hotels in the Balearic Islands such as Majorca will start to close their doors as only about six weeks of normal holiday season are left.
