Because of the festive season, Punjab extended COVID-19 limitations till September 30; however, the restrictions did not affect school operations. On August 1, 2021, Punjab School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla announced that, with agreement from Punjab Chief Minister Captian Amarinder Singh, all educational institutions in the state would reopen on August 2, following a review of the COVID-19 issue. After receiving written approval from the parents, physical classes are regularly held from 8 am to 2 pm for pre-primary to senior high school students. On September 10, COVID-19 restrictions were extended till September 30 by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh due to the festival season; nonetheless, the laws did not affect school functioning. Masks and social distance are strictly enforced, and all gatherings, including political ones, are limited to 300 individuals. DR KK Talwar, leader of the state's COVID-19 expert panel, said the situation was currently under control, but preparations for the third wave and the impending festival season were required. Singla had asked all teaching and non-teaching employees and department authorities to ensure appropriate cleaning of premises and classrooms and to fully implement the COVID-19 safety rules, according to the Government of India and Punjab Government directives. He instructed district education officers to ensure teaching and non-teaching employees were fully vaccinated. Or else, they should be vaccinated as quickly as possible, and vaccines should be accessible. Furthermore, there will be random testing at schools with a 100:1 ratio, and the secretary of school education will assess it every week. Despite speculations and concerns that the third wave will harm children, some states in India, such as Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chandigarh, Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh, have reopened schools, reports News18. As a result, the assertion that "schools in Punjab are closed until September 30 owing to COVID-19" is misleading. Even though the COVID-19 restrictions have been extended until September 30, schools in Punjab have been open since August 2 and are unaffected. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
