Misleading: People who are vaccinated against COVID-19 can receive free marijuana in the U.S.

Only a few organizations and states offered cannabis to people who got their first COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S.Around 40 percent of the U.S. population are vaccinated for COVID-19, according to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Vaccines have been one of the main factors to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. As incentives to get vaccinated, many states and companies around the U.S. offered donuts, beer, food, etc. One of these many incentives includes cannabis in some states like New York, Washington, and Michigan. D.C. Marijuana Justice (DCMJ), a cannabis reform organization based in Washington, D.C., in January 2021, launch its "Joints for Jabs" campaign. It rewarded those who got their first vaccination. According to the DCMJ website, on April 20, 2021, more than 85 volunteers were stationed at 30 vaccination sites throughout the District of Columbia. They distributed more than 8 pounds of DC-grown cannabis rolled into over 4,200 joints. DCMJ also collaborated with Act Up NY, an AIDS coalition, to launch Joints for Jabs in New York on April 20, 2021. This event took place one month after the governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, signed a bill legalizing recreational marijuana use. Greenhouse of Walled Lake, a recreational and medical marijuana dispensary in Michigan, offered a free pre-rolled joint to anyone over 21 with proof of vaccination until the end of April. So far, around 21 out of 50 states and territories in the U.S. have passed laws allowing for the personal possession and consumption of cannabis by adults. Out of these states, a few companies have offered cannabis as an incentive to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
