It is offering customers an option to have the amount of their change added to a loyalty card or donate that change to a charity due to coin shortage.Kroger Company said that customers would no longer receive coins as change due to a nationwide shortage of coins because of the pandemic. Kroger spokesperson Erin Rolfes said that due to the Federal Reserve’s current coin shortage, Kroger was offering customers the option of receiving the amount of their change in the form of loyalty card credit or rounding up their total and donating the remainder to charity (Zero Hunger/Zero Waste Foundation). Therefore, Kroger does not have a policy of not providing coin change to customers; it has temporarily stopped providing coin change in the light of the coin shortage.
