The study by the World Health Organisation and the National Health Service disproves the statement.Some posts have been circulated repeatedly on social media claiming that epidural injections are compulsorily administered during childbirth, one of the worst and dangerous injections, resulting in chronic back pain. The National Health Service had stated that epidurals injections are used during childbirth, including caesareans and in some types of surgery. Further, mentioned that it is usually safe, but there are side effects like low blood pressure, temporary loss of bladder control, itchy skin, and nerve damage. The World Health Organisation has recommended that epidural analgesia is advised for healthy pregnant women requesting pain relief during labour, and it depends on a woman’s preferences. By these reports, it can be concluded that epidural injections are optional for women.
