The protest actually took place in Kargil. Thousands of protestors took part in a march in Kargil against the killings of Hazara Shias in Pakistan on January 8, 2021. The protests eruped in the wake of the death of eleven coal miners from the Shiite Hazara community, who were kidnapped and killed by the extremist organization Islamic State on January 3, 2021. Prime Minister Imran Khan visited a delegation of the Hazaras and Shiite leaders in Quetta and assured compensation for the dead on January 10, following which the protest ended. Several trusts and organizations from Kargil and Ladakh condemned the killing of Hazara Community members and urged the Indian government and Pakistan government to take action against the culprits.
