Governor's Executive Order No. 2020-42 states that public entries must be restricted in the areas of gardening and plant nurseries in large stores.Governor Gretchen Whitmer had issued an Executive Order(No. 2020-42) on 9 April 2020, which stated that stores measuring more than 50,000 square feet had to block off certain areas of their sales floors like carpet or flooring, furniture, garden centres and plant nurseries, paint etc as a way of limiting the number of people in those stores. This meant that in many places people were effectively unable to buy plants, seeds or other gardening supplies. However, there was never any ban on growing food itself. The Executive Order(No. 2020-59) issued later on 24 April had declared that workers for garden stores, nurseries, and lawn care, pest control, and landscaping operations can return to work by following the social-distancing rules described under section 11(h) . The Governor had ordered a temporary closure of sales of gardening and plant nurseries but not imposed a ban on growing the food products or materials. Later, the restriction was temporarily eased by the Governor by allowing the stores to sell plant nursery products. CORRECTION: The earlier version of this fact check had given the judgment as False. It was altered to 'Misleading' after further consideration of the effects of the Governor's order.
