There is no evidence to show that 'Carbo Vegetabilis' can increase the oxygen level in a human body. A viral post claimed that taking two-three drops of homeopathic medicine 'Carbo Vegetabilis' helps increase the oxygen level in COVID-19 patients. The claim is false. According to a study published by Science Direct, Carbo Vegetabilis is prepared from black charcoal, from heating wood to red heat to drive off the gases. It further says that it shows several affinities with various body tissues. According to Daily Med, Carbo Vegetabilis only helps to reduce bloating and gas in the stomach with belching. Also, this homeopathic product has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for safety or efficacy. Moreover, FDA is not aware of scientific evidence to support homeopathy as effective in battling COVID-19, the report said. On May 15, the Press Information Bureau debunked the social media claims on the medicine. PIB tweeted saying that one must seek a doctor's help in case of difficulty in breathing. The medicine is also not on the Ministry of AYUSH's guidelines and medications for Homeopathy practitioners for treating COVID-19 patients in home isolation.
