President Donald Trump visited troops in Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, for Thanksgiving in November 2019, not in 2020.A claim started circulating on social media stating that President Donald Trump spent Thanksgiving 2020 with troops in Bagram, Afghanistan. In fact, in 2020, Trump spent Thanksgiving at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. The Associated Press reported that with a picture of Trump being there on Thanksgiving. According to White House transcripts dated Nov. 27, 2020, Trump addressed the military via video call from the White House but did not visit Afghanistan. The pictures circulating along with the caption that Trump spent Thanksgiving 2020 with troops in Afghanistan are actually from Nov. 2019. Trump himself tweeted the photo on Nov. 29, 2019, with the caption, "Just returned to the United States after spending a Great Thanksgiving with Courageous American Warriors in Afghanistan." Other images, videos, and details of Trump's visit to Bagram in 2019 for Thanksgiving are being falsely shared to portray that they are from 2020.
