The photo of Barron Trump predates the Pennsylvania rally shooting. It appears to have been taken at Donald Trump's rally in Florida on July 9.
Context
After former U.S. President Donald Trump was shot at the Pennsylvania rally on July 13, 2024, people shared an image of Trump's son, Barron, supposedly at the rally during the shooting.
The viral image (archived here, here, and here) shows Barron Trump standing with his arms crossed before a large crowd of Trump supporters. It was shared with captions like "Imagine having a front row seat to your dad getting shot in the head. Barron will never forget what they did to his father!"
Other X users shared and commented on the image, "Barron was there and saw everything. Barron will not be forgiving." These posts have more than 20 million views combined.
However, Logically Facts found that the image predates the Pennsylvania rally. It appears to have been captured on July 9 at Trump's campaign rally in Florida.
In fact
A reverse image search of the photo led us to multiple online posts predating the July 13 Pennsylvania rally. These posts (one of which is archived here) include the same image of Barron Trump as in the viral posts.
Compared to the viral photo, the posts show a wider shot of the crowd behind and Barron in the front row. Some online posts (one archived here) suggested the image is from Trump's rally in Doral, Florida, held on July 9, with captions like "Barron Trump and Eric Trump at Donald Trump's Presidential campaign launch in Doral, Florida." (archived here).
Logically Facts previously fact-checked an edited front-row seat image supposedly showing a seat reserved for NFL quarterback at Trump's Florida rally and affirmed that Barron Trump was present at the rally. Multiple media outlets covered Barron Trump's presence at the Florida rally. In a Sky News video published on July 9, Barron is seen seated in the front row in attire similar to that in the viral photo.
We could not find credible reporting or footage of Barron Trump attending the Pennsylvania rally. Donald Trump's wife, Melania Trump, posted a statement (archived here) on X following the shooting but made no reference to her or Barron being in Pennsylvania to witness the events.
Logically Facts contacted the Office of Donald J. Trump to verify whether Barron Trump was in Pennsylvania but has not yet received a response.
The verdict
The image does not show Barron Trump at the Pennsylvania rally shooting on July 13, 2024. The photo predates the event. Therefore, we marked the claim as false.
