Delhi and Uttar Pradesh governments stopped the transport arrangement after the central government imposed a nationwide lockdown.Chief Minister Yogi Adthitaynath said on 28 March 2020 that the Uttar Pradesh government had arranged 1,000 buses to help migrant workers to reach their destinations without any hassle, due to the lockdown implemented to mitigate the coronavirus infection. Meanwhile, Delhi Deputy Cheif Ministry Manis Sisodia had tweeted similarly about traveling arrangements with 100 buses from Delhi. The Ministry of Home Affairs ordered the state governments and union territory authority on 29 March to implement a nationwide lockdown. The migrant people who had moved out to reach their home towns were kept in a government quarantine facility for 14 days as per the standard health protocol. After the central government passed the order, both state governments distanced themselves from their earlier decision of arranging busses to ferry migrants.
