A statement issued by the Dr Naresh Trehan via the Medanta Hospital's official Twitter account refutes the claim.A message had gone viral in India on social media claiming to be from Dr Naresh Trehan’s office saying “Just got news from Dr Trehan’s office through the PMO that India is going to declare a National Emergency in a day or two. Keep enough ration, medicines and enough cash." Dr Naresh Trehan took to Twitter on 18 March 2020 and said that the message being circulated was fake and that he had not said any such thing. He requested people to disregard the message as it could lead to panic buying, hoarding, and stampeding banks. He further added that everyone must stay calm yet vigilant about prevention measures regarding the pandemic.
