Klaus Schwab speaking about various stakeholders of the WEF in 2007 has been misattributed to The Great Reset initiative introduced in 2020.

Klaus Schwab speaking about various stakeholders of the WEF in 2007 has been misattributed to The Great Reset initiative introduced in 2020.Context: The World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meetings are where world leaders gather to shape global, regional, and industry agendas. Every year, statements made at these events are taken out of context and misinterpreted. A video clip of WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab speaking outside a building, answering questions to the camera, has gone viral. The video caption says that the creator of The Great Reset has been filmed by a hidden button camera, where he is seen boasting about "the puppets he has in the Davos Mafia bag: We have them all ...politicians, media and especially the experts and scientists." However, Klaus Schwab's words have been taken out of context. In Fact: By searching the words Schwab uses in the video clip, we found the original video on the WEF YouTube channel, credited to French entrepreneur Loic Le Meur, dated January 12, 2007. The video description reads, "Klaus Schwab, Founder, and Executive Chairman, presents the World Economic Forum from its headquarters in Geneva. Klaus Schwab talks about the Annual Meeting in Davos and its different stakeholders." According to the video on YouTube, it was an interview held at the WEF headquarters. Schwab is asked what type of stakeholders or constituencies are involved at the WEF as they work in clubs in different meetings. Schwab answers, "If I look at our stakeholders, we have a business, of course as a very important audience, and we have politics, we have continuous partnerships with many governments around the world, and of course we have NGOs, we have trade unions, we have all those different paths.....media....very important social entrepreneurs." It is evident throughout the video that Schwab only talked about the stakeholders of the WEF, and made no references to The Great Reset. At the WEF 2022, Schwab was seen speaking about stakeholder capitalism. On May 23, when giving the opening remarks and explaining why one gets many opportunities to attend the meeting and follow the agenda, Schwab said, "the future is built by us by a powerful community." He added, “to improve the states of the world,” there are two necessary conditions. One, "that we act all as stakeholders of larger communities that we serve, not our only self-interests,” and two, “we collaborate." The WEF has summarised that "global platforms based on informal, trust-based, and action-oriented cooperation like WEF and Davos" is required to face all global challenges. The WEF launched a COVID-19 pandemic recovery initiative called "The Great Reset" in 2020. Since then, it has been used to spread conspiracy theories and false narratives. Logically has debunked these previously. The viral video is from 2007, and The Great Reset was introduced in 2020. The Verdict: Klaus Schwab's words from over a decade ago are incorrectly connected to The Great Reset narrative. Schwab listed the stakeholders working with the WEF in the viral clip. Therefore, we have marked this claim as false.
