An old image of Narendra Modi meeting villagers of Gujarat in the 1980s is falsely shared as him visiting a refugee camp in Rajasthan. A black and white picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking to some people is widely being shared on social media with captions claiming that this image was taken while Modi visited the refugee camp in Rajasthan where displaced Hindus from Pakistan were hosted. However, by a simple reverse image search, we found that the image was taken in the 1980s around the time when Narendra Modi was made as to the ‘Sambhaag Pracharak’, equivalent to a regional organizer. He was given charge of South and Central Gujarat. This image that is being recently shared online was taken from Gujarat. The website narendramodi.in has shared the same image and captioned it as "Narendra Modi in a village of Gujarat." Further, the same image has been shared on the Twitter handle of 'indianhistorypics.' Thus, we can conclude that the image was captured in the 1980s while Modi was interacting with Gujarat villagers and that the image is being circulated on social media with a false narrative.
