False: Hydroxychloroquine is being used for compassionate treatment in the United Kingdom.

The MHRA guidance has stated that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are not licensed for use in COVID-19 treatment.The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has said that Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are not licensed to treat symptoms of COVID-19 or prevent infection. It added that Clinical trials are ongoing to test the drugs like an agent in the treatment of COVID-19. The trials are incomplete, and hence the drugs cannot be used in the safe and effective treatment of COVID -19 patients. A local NHS Foundation Trust, Camden and Islington for example, has said the same in its news release. It has not been approved for compassionate use either.
