An old video of wall panels falling over at New Mexico from June 2020 is being circulated as border wall collapse in Texas.A video circulating on social media claimed that heavy winds had knocked down sections of a border wall in Texas caused by Hurricane Hanna. People on Twitter expressed outrage at the footage, believing Hanna had toppled the wall because of shoddy construction. Hurricane Hanna had made landfall along Southern Texas’ Gulf Coast on July 25, 2020. The U.S.Customs and Border Protection issued a statement on the wall video. They clarified that the video circulated in the social media could be of June 2020 at a Department of Defense construction site near Deming, New Mexico where several barrier panels fell due to high winds, which were pending for additional anchoring. Our verdict on the claim: The footage has been falsely labelled, and the high-wind event is entirely unrelated to Hurricane Hanna.
