A fake Jawaharlal Nehru's letter was viral on social media to show that Nehru conspired against Subhash Chandra Bose. The viral letter showed that the First Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, in a letter to the Prime Minister of England, Clement Attlee on December 26, 1945, stated that Subhash Chandra Bose was a war criminal. The Imperial War Museum letter dated November 25, 1998, to the High Commission of India in London clarifies that Bose's name was not on the list of war criminals. There is no mention of such a letter in the newly declassified records on Bose. The alleged letter in question ends with, "Yours Sincerely, Jawaharlal Nehru" but remains unsigned by Nehru and, it does not carry the watermark of National Archives of India. Ashis Ray, a London-based journalist who has uploaded the evidence of the last days of Bose, commenting about the widely circulated letter, said that Nehru never wrote such a letter.
