The video of Adityanath crying during the Ek Diya Shaheed Ke Naam ceremony in 2017 has been misattributed as his response to The Kashmir Files. With the release of the 2022 film "The Kashmir Files," a YouTube video has begun circulating online. In the video, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is seated in an audience and can be seen crying. The post claims the video was taken during a recent showing of the film, released in March 2022. This is inaccurate. The video is from an event in 2017. Through conducting a reverse image search, the original version of the video can be traced back to an ABP News report posted on the group's YouTube channel. According to ABP News, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh shed tears during the "Ek Diya Shaheed Ke Naam" event held at Gorakhpur to commemorate martyrs on October 17, 2017. Another video of the same event filmed from a distance is used in Zee News news coverage which can also be found on YouTube. It reported that Adityanath became emotional and cried while listening to "Sandese Aate Haine," a patriotic song about soldiers. On March 15, 2022, Adityanath tweeted that the film can be watched tax-free in Uttar Pradesh. There is no other evidence of him expressing a response to the film. Thus we have labeled this claim as false.
