Since this loss, social media posts have claimed that Covishield and Covaxin are more effective in fighting the Delta variant than Moderna and Pfizer. Covaxin was found to be effective against the coronavirus and offered significant protection against the Delta variant in late-stage clinical trials, India's Bharat Biotech said. It said that Covaxin is 65.2 percent effective against the Delta variant, The Wall Street Journal reported. A study funded by Public Health England published in The New England Journal of Medicine shows that the effectiveness of two doses of the Pfizer vaccine was 93.7 percent in people with the Alpha variant and 88.0 percent in people with the Delta variant. In the Alpha and Delta variants, the effectiveness of Covishield after two doses was 74.5 percent and 67.0 percent. Mayo Clinic states that after one dose, the Moderna vaccine is 72 percent effective at preventing the symptomatic COVID-19 virus caused by the Delta variant.
