The two images circulating are from different countries. Buildings in Homs were destroyed when government planes struck rebel-held districts in 2013.A post showing two buildings, one that appears to be a crowded market area and another a destroyed building, is being shared widely on Facebook with a caption claiming they're both from the same location in Syria. The captions on the image blaming the U.S. for the broken down conditions of the building. However, a simple Google image reverse search shows that the two images are from two different countries. The one from the market place is a Reuters stock photo from the busy Hamra street in Beirut January 26, 2011. The image of the destroyed buildings is another Reuters photo of a deserted street in Homs, clicked on January 30, 2013. At least 60,000 people were killed in Syria's civil war. Mostly Sunni Homs, a commercial and agricultural hub 90 miles north of Damascus, had been at the heart of the 22-month uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. In wake of escalating situation in Afghanistan, such images blaming the U.S. for destruction in other conflict-ridden countries are being taken out of context and shared widely.
