Not all medical units at AIIMS Delhi are COVID-19 wards.
Not all medical units at AIIMS Delhi are COVID-19 wards. A widely circulated post on social media claims that Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has converted all its medical units into COVID-19 wards. However, the Press Information Bureau has stated that this information is false. As India faces a shortage of hospital beds and oxygen cylinders, scores of people are using social media to obtain beds. A message directing people to AIIMS for hospital beds mentions that the hospital has converted all its medical units into COVID-19 wards. On May 6, 2021, the Press Information Bureau confirmed that the message is fake and clarified that the hospital has not converted all units into COVID-19 medical wards. Since adding 150 extra beds in May 2021, AIIMS has a total of 241 hospital beds for treating COVID-19 patients. Additionally, the trauma center has 294 beds. The COVID-19 wards are on the second and the sixth floor. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
