Fact-Check

The Verdict Fake

The original photograph shows Schwarzenegger in a plain black T-shirt.

The claim

An image of former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wearing a T-shirt that reads, "I didn't vote for the McFelon," is widely circulating online.

The post gathered over 850,000 views on X. It also surfaced on the social media platform Blueskyposted on November 17.

However, the image is altered.

In fact

The original photograph (photograph slide 9) was posted to Schwarzenegger’s official Instagram account on March 16. In this picture, he is wearing a plain black T-shirt and posing with professional bodybuilder Phil Heath, who was cropped out of the viral image shared on X.

The photograph's location, noted on the original Instagram post, was the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre in the U.K. The post's description says it was taken on day two of Arnold UK, a fitness exposition event held in Birmingham from March 15 to 17.

Schwarzenegger endorsed Democrat Kamala Harris ahead of the recently concluded U.S. presidential election.

The verdict

Arnold Schwarzenegger was not pictured wearing a T-shirt with the slogan, “I didn’t vote for the McFelon.” The image has been digitally altered. The original photograph shows Schwarzenegger wearing a plain black T-shirt.
