An incident of a property dispute between two parties has been incorrectly attributed and circulated with a communal angle to mislead people. A video went viral claiming that a group of Jihadists entered a Hindu house and assaulted women, destroyed the idols in the pooja room in Roorkee. The claim is false and baseless. According to Daily Roorke, the incident took place over a property dispute between two parties. A woman who was the victim claimed that a group entered their house, assaulted her and her family, and tried to encroach the place forcefully. She also claimed that the property near BSM degree college is in her husband's ancestor's name. In contrast, the other party claims that they purchased the same property several years ago for Rs. 1.5 crores. The parties blame each other over the incident and have approached the police to address the issue. Since one of the parties involved who allegedly assaulted the woman is a Muslim, the incident has been given a communal angle. Hindustan Samachar reports that the police are looking over the matter based on a written statement and would take strict action against people involved in the assault. Therefore, clashes over property issues in Roorkee have been falsely circulated with a communal angle.
